Unity
Steering Committee for the Greater Austin/Central Texas
Area Stone-Campbell Dialogue is now meeting regulary to explore
the avenues of common ground and cooperative efforts between
the three branches of the Stone-Campbell Heritage. This is a
strictly voluntary group of concerned Christians from the Christian
Churches, acappella Churches of Christ and Disciples of Christ
(Three Streams). Contact us if you wish to represent your congregation
and meet with us on a quarterly basis. The steering committee
is comprised of one committee member from each participating
congregation as well as one alternate committee member. Each
congregation will determine who their steering committee member
and alter.
The purpose of the steering committee is to help facilitate
and represent the voice and concerns of each autonomous congregation
of the Three Streams in the continuing expanding Dialogue during
the Quarterly meetings.
The steering committee is not designed to
exclude the participation and attendance of any interested
individual to the Quarterly Stone-Campbell Dialogue Meetings.
All interested parties are highly encouraged to attend! What
the steering committee will provide is an orderly channeling
of each congregation's interest through one individual.
Expectation of steering committee members:
Attend the Quarterly Greater Austin/Central Texas Area Stone-Campbell
Dialogue Meetings.
Serve as the single voice
for their congregation during the meetings
Seek for means of cooperation
between the congregations within the Stone-Campbell heritage
Consider your congregation
hosting the quarterly meeting
Serve as the focal point
for correspondence and notification of area wide activities
Steering committee members are not empowered to:
Represent the interest of any other congregation other than
their own in the Dialogue Meetings.
Override the autonomy of
any congregation.
Re-assign their empowerment
to another person outside their congregation. The congregation,
however, may approve
an alternate.
